I knew a woman named Juanita Chang. Mother was caucasian, father asian, and she was born in Central America. Spoke English, Spanish, Tagalog, and Chinese.
My favorite character name is easily Sookie Houseboat from the British comedy show Toast of London (seen on Netflix in the U.S.)
Actually, Sookie Houseboat wasn't really a character, but a picture on the wall at Toast's agent's office. There were quite a number of eccentrically named photos on the agent's wall, and nearly all recurring and one-off characters had common-word surnames: Toast, Purchase, Fandango, and Plough (pronounced Pluff, akin to Hyacinth Bucket).
Another universe filled with interesting and meaningful names is the Harry Potter universe. Lavender Brown, Lucius Malfoy, Severus Snape, etc.
I am also old enough to remember the Farkle Family from Laugh-In. Fannie Farkle, Fred Farkle, and of course neighbor Ferd Ferkle.
How could you forget their daughter Sparkle Farkle???
My personal favorites were from the Bullwinkle show..Snidely Whiplash, and Dudley Dooright.
Why do people ask questions like this but limit our answers to just ONE favorite book, movie, character, song, scene, or whatever? I can't come up with just one of any of them.
All I need to do is flip through my volumes of folklore or the appendices of Tolkien's Ring trilogy to find dozens of wonderful character names. Another favorite from a beloved childhood read based on Welsh mythology is Nevvid Nav Neivion: the living caretaker of all animals; a fictionalized version of Noah.
