I'm wondering about doing an online project, everything will be remote. As I don't want to resign from my current job, I'am thinking about taking a sabbatical year and moving somewhere else to do the project. If it failed I would go back to my job.
As I don't know how much money I will make, I would avoid contry like norway. Even if they seems interesting to me, the financial question can put me in trouble.
Without going to personnal, I'am a 37 yeard old french man. I speak french (of course) and can communicate without to much troubles in english.
I don't really have criterias, just some preference, like a cheap cost of life place, not a village but a city where I can meet people easily...
For the moment a place who come to my mind are Varna in Bulgaria.
I'am taking all suggestions, if you have some ideas.
You probably haven’t thought of this one, but what about Bitola, or Skopje in North Macedonia. Very affordable although it does get very warm in the summer time. Not sure of the visa requirements either. Almost everyone speaks English there. My father was born there, and I have been there many times. There is a Muslim community there but the majority of the people there are Christian ( Macedonian Orthodox). There is even a beautiful Catholic Church there which I have visited ( my mother was Catholic). In 2005 Macedonia became the first country in the world to become wireless.

I forgot to mention that the Catholic Church is in Bitola and is called The Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. But there are other Catholic Churches and other denominations in North Macedonia as well.

Reason: Added something.
OP the former french colonies now overseas territories, maybe look into those destinations as possibles?
I would prefer Europe but it might be interesting.
The problem is white french people from the metropole aren't always welcome everywhere and some oversea territories are really dangerous.
Well how is the bigger question. How do you get a visa to residency or perhaps citizenship in the EU??
You mean as a general question? I don't know it might depends of the country.
Specifically for me, with french citizenships I can live everywher ein european union without visa and probably in many other europeans places to.
