You have zero clue who I am, so why bother with such a comment.

I HAVE been in management, and owned my own company at one time. Large companies, especially, have no loyalty to their employees, and will throw them under the bus rather than hear a peep from a customer, regardless of how trivial or how wrong the customer is.

That is why employees feel indifferent and have little loyalty toward their employers, too. It is a two way street. Companies really do not care what you have done great in the past, they are all about what have you done for us today. You could be the best, most productive employee on the planet, and if it came down to you vs a customer, that guy buying a pack of gum would win.

Don't get me wrong, I am treated like gold at my job, but I know every time I pick up the phone or greet a customer, that could be the contact that makes me look like the bad guy, and my long history would mean zilch.

I am not sure why the management at this Winn Dixie store turns a blind eye to it happening, but every time I go in there, someone has a dog on a leash or in a cart (where other people are going to put their groceries ) and nothing is ever said to them by the store employees. It is almost like they are afraid to say anything to the people doing it.

I never see this happening at Publix, or even the Walmart grocery store I go to, just this one Winn Dixie store. Admittedly, it is not in the greatest section of the Cape, and not the cleanest store, but I still can not believe they let it happen. I'm surprised the Health Dept lets them get away with it too.
I was in a Walmart one day and a dog took a crap by the jewelry section and the guy just walked away with the dog.

They are not allowed. I have a small dog and the only store she goes to is Petsmart.

I've seen dogs of all sorts at Publix and Walmart in Venice Florida. Management at both stores could care less about enforcing the law. I simply do not understand why people cannot just use common sense and leave their dogs at home while grocery shopping. IMO they just dont care about anyone else but themselves. It's ten times worse here in Florida than anywhere else I've ever lived. When did it become acceptable to bring dogs into grocery stores here?

Like I mentioned earlier, I am a pet lover myself, mine are like family to me. But they are animals, they shed, they slobber, and they have germs. Just a fact of life. To take them into a dry goods store is one thing, but to take them in with food other people have to eat is disgusting and unsanitary.

I can not understand how stores have allowed this to happen.

I've seen numerous signs in stores saying that service dogs are welcome, but not non-service pets and animals are not permitted to ride in carts in the stores.

Seems pretty self-explanatory to me, though I also see any number of customers who've either thumbed their nose at the signs, figured the signs couldn't possibly apply to "my well behaved dog" ( being so spayshul, doncha know), cruising around in those stores with Phydeaux in the cart or in tow on the leash.

Seems to me those customers don't give a hoot about policies, laws, or consideration of others and it's of utmost priority to them that they get what they want. IMO with that much chutzpah they'll fight back any challenge to their behavior, and store managers and owners are too intimidated by the threats and behavior ( including being shamed on social media as an animal hater) by those pet owners who do fight back. The managers prefer just letting these owners do whatever they like and hope nothing happens to rock the boat.

The only things I would by from that particular WD in Cape Coral are things in cans. Meat...….no way, I have seen too many dogs in there, some even putting their paws up on the coolers to look at the meat. The management and employees seem to be afraid to do anything about it , and that speaks volumes about the cleanliness of their store.

This is the reason I do the majority of my shopping at Publix, I have never seen one dog in there ever.

I've seen a few dogs in carts or on leashes in our local WD, but OMG, I can't say I have ever seen dogs that near the meat, or even near that near the food. And the store manager SHOULD stop that. The ADA laws specify that even real service dogs must be under control of their handlers, and if they are disruptive, or peeing/pooping in the establishment, they can be required to leave the premises. I'd think that standing up to look at the meat (hard to imagine an owner with the sheer chutzpah to let a dog do this), is disruptive, of course a real trained service dog would never do this.

I've seen a few people with their "service dogs" (complete with an internet obtained certificate and cute wittle vest to prove it), in one of the Publix around here. Mostly little old ladies who never go anywhere without Phydeaux on his leash or in his little basket.

There are so many "service dogs" in the Home Depots, OTOH, that it's hard not to trip over them. Or for them to avoid fighting with each other, sometimes.

I waited on a blind man the other day, and he had his service dog with him. That is fine and understandable, but everyone who has some little issue these days can't seem to leave home without their "emotional support" animal.

Pet's in a hardware store, no problem, pets in a grocery store with exposed food, big problem.

I was in a very nice restaurant and someone brought in their dod. No vest to designate the dog as a service dog, no apparent physical disability for the owner. Its out of hand.
