My husband was born and raised in Chicago. He lived in Fort Myers for about 20 years. He says it is very bad in Fort myers, and that is saying something. He is not sure if it is worse, but it is very bad. By the way, we moved out about a year ago. Florida is very deceiving. A very big drug problem. Have you ever been to Fort Myers?

This is where the other states leave their unwanted trash!
Most won't extradite unless it's a huge Most Wanted case

If your rich and can afford an upscale area. If you cant afford a good area, dont bother living in Florida. We have lots of bad areas and the houses still cost $150k to $300k in those areas!

How many of those of you complaining about the high crime rate have been personally affected by a crime in Florida?

I've lived here 34+ years and the most I've seen is a cd player stolen from a car we forgot to lock. However, we never lock our house. I'm not rich and I live in an average house in an average neighborhood in Port St. Lucie.

I know that the crime is nowhere compared to where I originally come from-Philadelphia, but, whenever the news is turned on, MOST times (not all, but most) any of the crime mentioned is committed in the Fort Myers area, rather than Naples, Bonita...but I am sure it is nothing like the bigger cities.

Good question. What crime? What has happened to you personally? I live in Vero Beach and it's so safe here it's boring.

On the news when you hear about crime, it usually is in Ft. Myers, Cape Coral or Lehigh Acres down here in SW Florida.
