I tend to prefer certain clothes. Fashion just isn't important to me, but comfort is. If I like shirt or pair of pants, I tend to wear it more than others. Just because someone wears the same outfit all the time, doesn't mean that he doesn't have multiple pairs of the same outfit. Some people have created their own style, maybe it's nothing but a gray suit or a pair of jeans and a black turtle neck. Personally... I could care less what other people wear or how often they wear it. Now if they stink to high heaven, then I care about that, especially if they are near me.
That is crap and I have no idea who planted that in your head. ALL clothing can be and is washed properly and does NOT smell IF you wash the item properly. I have clothes that are 20 years old that I still wear that do not smell and they have been used for everything from cleaning out the ditch to painting in the house.
That's what I was thinking. I wear very old clothing to do heavy housework and yard work. They don't stink after being properly laundered.
I think the wording of the original thread has something to do with it. See there are three parts to it; gym clothes, normal clothes, clothes with holes in it. Seems you were asking three different things; do you wear the same thing to the gym all of the time; do you wear the same clothes all of the time; do you wear clothes with holes in them and are faded.
Posters here are probably responding to one part of your original post.
In hindsight I should have been more specific. There are clothes for work, gym/sports/recreational, going out, dressing up, etc etc.

That is a lot of wardrobes for one person to have, I don't have the closet space for it. I have clothing that is practical and comfortable and interchangeable to be worn for every occassion. Individuals pieces can be dressed up or dressed down or somewhere in the middle depending on what shoes I have on, which shirt/blouse I wear, if I have a jacket on or a simple sweater.
Sorry, but you must be doing something wrong; overloading the machine, not enough soap.. something. Sweat does not "linger" when the item is washed properly, even if it's been worn a year. I grew up in a blue collar household, lots of family members with dirty grimy sweaty uniforms, worn every day and often out in the Texas heat. They still didn't ever develop a lingering odor. Try a vinegar rinse.
?
Most of my workout clothes don't smell the first 40 or so times I wear them. It's probably around the 50+ times that it starts to reek very fast into my sessions. I get self conscious about the odor so I end up throwing it away, which is okay because by that time the shirt is looking a bit worn out.
I hand wash my workout clothes because I only wear about 4 at a time so I need it right away. I'm probably in the top 1% when it comes to how much people sweat doing exercise.
I am amazed at the claim that underarm odor will survive proper washing, because in my experience it never has. However, more than one poster has advanced that claim, and there is no point in assuming they are liars.
It's good to see that someone else here has experienced a certain aroma lingering on clothing after constant wearing.
When I workout, my back is literally drenched( I like to do cardio) with sweat. After a few months of usage it can start to smell even though it has been washed with detergent and soap.
Im sorry if someone thought I was being a bully I was not trying to be that in fact I hate bullies . Im just simply stating that people need not worry so much about what others wear ...I truly am sorry if anyone thought I was being a bully that was not my intention at all .
I apologize too for a knee jerk reaction.
My thread was never to shame anyone. I'm a frugal guy who only buys clothes when they are on sale, most of the time waiting till they are at least half price or at the end of the season.
Sometimes I find discarded socks in the park....wash them up, good as new!!!!
