I'm a divorced guy,and delish.com had a article which claims that generic brands are far cheaper and quality is right up there with the name brands. From what I've found it's damn straight!
I'll take dollar Gen or aldi's anytime over the grocery monsters!

i usually get my milk at costco or aldi but now its going to only be aldi. my costco just made the switch over to those newer shape gallon milk containers. im spilling milk everytime i pour. so every coffee, cereal, etc. that is made, we are wasting 1-3 cents of milk!!

I don't buy so much at Aldi that I need a cart; I just take my own bags, pile the groceries in them, unbag them on the conveyor belt, and rebag them.

Every Aldi is different, of course; the store nearest me is clean and has excellent baked goods, cheeses, frozen vegetables and pantry staples like canned beans, pasta, rice, flour, sugar. The Aldi version of Triscuits are delicious. The canned soup is pretty good.

What I won't buy at Aldi: most produce, and meat.

Aldi mostly sells their own brand, but they have several different brands of their own. You have to look at the back of the product and look for the address. It's will say Batavia, Illinois. Then you know it's theirs.

They have approx. 20 different exclusive to Aldi 'brand names' that are their own and it depends on the product. Here is a link that lists all their brands.

https://www.aldi.us/en/grocery-items/aldi-brands/

I am very impressed with the taste and quality of Aldi's own brands. Sometimes it's better than the leading brands sold in other stores but for much cheaper.

Aldi is adding a lot more new stores this year. They are no frills and very small, but I like to shop there for some things. I love most of their frozen meals. I got some frozen crab cakes there for something like $3/box and I have yet to find any comparable product in any store, of any brand. They were so good.

I cook and bake from scratch, buy in bulk, sales and try to eat healthy. I don't use and prepacked, no preservatives etc. I am pretty picky and shop many different stores including co ops for my bulk. Started shopping at Aldi's again as I got 30 pounds of organic grass fed beef for a great price and was very good tasting and quality. I got tons of organic pasta cheaper then I can get anywhere else so stocked up. Once again fantastic quality ( I got both the linguine and spaghetti). Their bananas were organic on sale cheaper then I could get elsewhere and got 20 pineapples for .99 each. Awesome store, great prices and quality has been good for things I have gotten.

May I ask what you are going to do with 20 pineapples?

I know that is something I couldn't use up in a short period of time. I wouldn't know how to preserve them either.

Tropical drinks in hollowed out pineapples! At least that's the only thing I'd do with 20 pineapples.

We use them in smoothies, green drinks, and fruit bowls. We actually went back and got tons more but dehydrated them for that price. I have two dehydrators and it warms the kitchen, smells great and are so good dried. The usual price for pineapples in my are is 5-6.00 each so this was a great savings for us.

They are awesome dehydrated, retain their color and little more chewy then store bought. I also don't roll them in sugar like the store, so healthier. I am allergic to sulfites so can't get store bought as most dried fruit has it.
