Beef have become too expensive that it's pretty much out of my budget now! Damn! I just can't justify the cost when compare to other meat.

I've stopped buying it on a regular basis. We eat beef maybe twice a month, just for occasional variety. But, that's it.

I make meatloaf and burritos using turkey burger, which I buy in frozen tubes for $1.89 a pound at Aldi. The taste is not exactly the same, but not bad. For just plain burgers though, I still need beef.

I have been using the ground turkey too. I get it at $2.99 for 10% fat when on sale. If I really want hamburger I buy a London broil when it is on sale for $2.99 and have the butcher grind it up--very lean and cheaper than the pre-ground meat.

Not too bad if you are not THAT picky.

I can buy a pound of hamburger at Walmart for about $3.90.

I am doing the Ketogenic thingy....so the full-fat is what buy. A pound of fatty hamburger will do me for 2 meals......less than 2 bucks a meal, not too bad.

I've gone to using turkey/chicken for almost everything - or mixing beef with other meats, I made some stuffed peppers with a pork/beef mix the other day. I put a 1.5 lbs of stew meat in my stew the other day instead of the 2lbs I normally would use.

Honestly, im not that bothered by the price increase . Ive been trying to get my husband to quit eating so much meat anyway...

I did have a mind to make a nice pot roast the other day but the beef was so expensive I just couldnt justify it and ended up buying pork instead.

That type of beef is from cows raised in feed lots and probably fed all kinds of hormones and antibiotics. I understand wanting to save money, but there is a trade-off that comes from buying cheaper meat.

The good stuff -- the organic, grass-fed beef -- is expensive so I don't buy it all that often. But when I do eat beef, I try to stick to that. It's a shame that eating healthy is a bit pricey.

Uh-huh......and all the box-stores buy from MAJOR beef producers.

Feed lots are used by pretty much every cattle producer to fatten-up cattle in the last couple of weeks before slaughter.

Hormones are NATURALLY present in all meat. Antibiotics are used industry wide......I have noticed no ill effects for eating said meat.

NOPE, not paying 10 bucks a pound for overpriced Yuppy-burger.

They rather to sell it to the Chinese who will pay higher prices for it. That's capitalism for you...

Don't hate on the messenger. And I'm not a yuppy. I'm just pointing out that meat quality varies considerably, and that higher quality meat generally costs more. And beef raised on natural grasses instead of on grains tend to be healthier and have better omega 3/6 ratios, which benefits the consumer.
