Start with the easy stuff. Drop off all baby stuff and kids toys to your local charity that accepts second hand items. You'll be helping others who can't afford these items rather than them sitting at your house useless and collecting dust. Toys are not sentimental, they are just things, clutter, easy to get rid off.

Box it up. One box at a time. When the trunk of your car is full - take your pick of charity or city dump. Next load! You will discover the fact that closets have floor space in no time.

They often don't include monitors or TVs especially if they are the old tube type. They cost to dispose of and have no resale value. I have several in my basement that I'm finally going to bite the bullet and pay the fee at our county recycling agency.

I want to feel free of all this stuff.

Your boys have a perfectly good place to keep it -- Your House! If you have told them before that you are cleaning out I would give them a final 'no later than date' to make arrangements to collect whatever they want. I'll admit this is a bad time of year to do that, especially if you haven't given them any warning, since there are a lot of other commitments that make it difficult to get chores like this done. And in some parts of the country the weather doesn't cooperate either but if you are ready to move on tell them and then follow through.

Maybe force the issue by telling them you are selling the house and need everything gone. It sounds like you may be headed in that direction anyway.

I'm seeing a FaceBook meme that always shows up this time of year suggesting that you can get rid of anything by packing it in an Amazon.com box, taping it up and leaving it on your front porch. It will disappear in no time.

Not just from Amazon, any package that's been delivered.
