Of course I would. I've eaten at Afghani restaurants during the last dozen years.
Most owners of Chinese restaurants are either U.S. citizens themselves (or are permanent residents) or their children or other relatives are U.S. citizens. If they're living here in the U.S., with an established business, it's unlikely they're here as provocateurs or The Americans type spies. Their interests are probably more aligned with the U.S. than with China.
I personally haven't come to any definite conclusions about this question. But the harsh reality would be that we would be killing ethnic Chinese as well as them killing us. That is the reality of war plain and simple. I wouldn't expect Chinese restaurant workers to consider me in a friendly way since they would have a sound reason not to like me. The worst scenario would be an attempt on their part to contaminate ones food. I enjoy Chinese food but I think that if there was a war between us and them that I would think twice before eating in a Chinese restaurant.
Why? People that run the restaurants are in American just trying to run a business.....
If it were a mainland China chain that sent the profits back to weapons factories in the PRC, then yes, I'd boycott that.
Meanwhile, over in China, they'll rename McDonald's largest burgers to "Big Mao".
And by the way. What if they win? They'd probably close every faux Chinese restaurant in the U.S. and replace it with something more authentic. That's enough reason to go to war, just by itself. To end this cultural appropriation and distortion.
Also they'd force us to use chopsticks. Start practicing now, people. It's coming. Visions of trying to eat a steak and potatoes dinner with sticks.
Funny. You think outside of a few exceptions what we get here is authentic and has any real tie to China?
Reminds me of a Chinese coworker who has a friend that opened up a restaurant in China...with what we would consider a typical Chinese buffet and calls it American food.
Yeah contaminating non-Chinese people's food is a fantastic business model, especially when you've uprooted yourself and likely your family to move clear across the world and start up a restaurant in ENEMY TERRITORY.
This isn't the 1940's. Let's not punish residents and citizens living the in US for a perceived threat ::keyword:: We did it once, and I doesn't look good on our track record. Plus Chinese residents in the US could serve as invaluable sources for translation, geographical knowledge, political knowledge etc.
Although it was made publicly available in 2016, the Chinese were probably well aware of it when they started the reclamation activity in the South China Sea in 2015. Building out forward defenses away from the mainland would leave them less exposed to heavy civilian losses in a war. Terrorism is also being conveniently introduced everywhere China made significant investments in Africa for raw materials.
Go to Chinatown, San Francisco, and go into the back room of any restaurant, where all the Chinese eat. Completely different menu. You have been warned.
That is absurd. I've worked at Chinese restaurants, and in both cases, the owners, as well as most of the employees, came here because they feared or hated the Chinese government. They are glad to be here, and were just as American as I am...maybe more so, as they chose to be here and worked and sacrificed to get here.
I'm astounded that anyone would even think to ask this.
Also they'd force us to use chopsticks. Start practicing now, people. It's coming. Visions of trying to eat a steak and potatoes dinner with sticks.
Eating with chopsticks is half the fun of going to a Chinese restaurant! You're missing out!
