Mentioned years ago in another thread - I suspect the same thing on Maui and the Big Island.

Now something tourism related - mainland tourism down 6% lately after being up all year.

Hawaiian vacations may get a bit more expensive soon.

QUOTE: It is a foregone conclusion that the next Hawaii governor will be current Lt. Gov. Josh Green. He previously proffered the idea of a $50 visitor fee on arrival. That’s right, a $50 “green fee” by Green. Now his plan has been confirmed, and it goes like this.

It'll never happen and would certainly be illegal - unless they charge visitors and residents equally as an airport tax. Otherwise, it would be like setting up a toll road between California and Nevada and only charging out of state residents. And Hawaii is one of the few states that don't require a new drivers license when moving to the state

Frontier Airlines has announced plans to become a playa in the Hawaii market in 2026, when they take delivery of their new A321XLR jets.

https://beatofhawaii.com/frontier-ha...n-new-a321xlr/

The new plane could allow nonstops from New York to Hawaii. That would be one looooong-ass flight in a single-aisle jet.

The quote from the CEO of Frontier - says, The A321XLR will enable us to fly to...Hawaii.

That is very different than saying - We will fly the A321XLR to Hawaii.

As early as 2019 in the Pacific Business News essentially ran the same story regarding Frontier and Hawaii.

https://www.bizjournals.com/pacific/...on-hawaii.html

LCC's typically haven't done well in Hawaii - Allegiant flamed out and I know some other flamed out either. When you are paying $600+ for your hotel on Maui - you usually don't slum it on your flight. I'm skeptical Frontier will attempt Hawaii and who knows what the travel/Hawaii market will be like 4 years from now.

A new record for Hawaii flight delays. How much worse will it get?

QUOTE: Yesterday (October 26) saw the most significant number of single-day Hawaii flight delays we can ever recall; 316 in total!

https://beatofhawaii.com/316-hawaii-...ines-faa-brawl

My next trip will be on Hawaiian: Maui to Las Vegas R/T in a couple of weeks. Hope my flight over is not delayed. Coming back, my flight departs at 7:00 am. I wouldn't mind if it departs 2 hours late if they would kindly let me know the night before.

Had to cancel our Las Vegas trip. Everybody at my house has the flu. I had a flu shot last week. Not sure if it helped but I've had the least number of symptoms. (Covid tests were negative.)

We will probably wait for spring to rebook. I'm not a fan of LV in the winter.

I'd rather be here.
