They both looked like idiots up there, even the sign language interpreter gave Lina a few "WTF are you talking about?" looks.

Well it looks like the state citizens of Texas put their money and lives in the hands of people who aren't capable of handling their job. The people who voted for them (whether they realized it or not) will be enjoying the fruits of their labor today and for the foreseeable future.
At least someone is doing something to help protect the lives of Texans and it certainly isn't Lina Hidalgo.

The fact is that Houston bet the farm on O&G and traditionally voted for representatives that allowed lax EPA regulations. When you do that, this is the result. It ain't Linda's fault, this infrastructure was put into place a long time ago when the GOP ruled the roost. Oh and forget EPA fines for this Deer Park site, Trump gutted the EPA. This means all they will do will be to stop the fire and rebuild these oil tanks. Same old, same old.

I wish both parties collectively ceased to exist, to be perfectly honest about it. I've got no affection for one gang of thieves over the other.

Straight ticket is pure laziness unworthy of the privilege of democracy. People like that get what they deserve.

And it ain't Cruz and Cornyn nor any of the GOP representatives in Texas...

I couldn't be happier with how my TX state representatives voted on that measure, they're doing what we sent them to DC to do. You don't seem interested in the environmental disaster taking place in Houston right now... that's interesting.

The real idiots were the ones that failed to enforce regulations on these plants in the past when they had numerous violations (you know long before Lina was elected). But what's a little chemical smoke eh? I'm here in Austin, been outside on Spring Break the last few days breathing clean air, we chose clean industries here...

The company ITC has been fined in the past, they're listed in the first post's link.

There are three cases which involved a total of $38,300 in TCEQ levied fines since 2009.

Two of the cases involved air quality violations, one of the cases involved a water quality violation, with cyanide.

I am concerned about the disaster, it's horrible how the EPA has been gutted and they were slapped on the wrist for this behavior (do you agree or do you think business should be able to do anything they want?). $38K is chump change for these companies, they should have to pay carbon offset taxes, that would've stuck it to them and right now because of the immense carbon pouring out, it would mean Houston would be getting billions in reparations from this incident.

During Obama that company would be facing some legal actions. When BP had their disaster in the Gulf and Obama was the POTUS, he stopped all new oil production in the Gulf and fined them billions. That's how you lead when there's an environmental crisis. Hit it where it hurts, in the pocketbook. But I guess you oppose carbon offset taxes? (as the fumes are spilling out).

Hint: Don't argue with a democrat when you are a republican about pollution, you'll probably lose... We are the party that hates these things and believe in legislation to tax and regulate companies like this...

What of the ones who vote for people who think those regulations aren't necessary, and only serve to get in the way of profits? Where do they rank on the idiot scale? I'm thinking somewhere between Donald Trump and the kid in my first grade class who apparently thought the orange crayons tasted like actual oranges.

EDIT - Oh, hey, looks like you answered that already!
