I'm being told that work on a permanent entrance to The Crossing should commence within 1-2 months and after this is complete, things should really speed up for that development. The process for obtaining permits/jumping through red tape has been very slow, but it appears that construction on the permanent entrance should start soon. How ironic would it be if construction on The Crossing starts before Tanyard Station? I still personally believe that Tanyard Station has spiraled downward and there are most likely so major issues going on behind the scene. Again, not one single update has been given since early June and not one ounce of construction has been done on the road upgrades. All I can say is they better be changing that sign advertising "estimated opening summer 2017" ASAP as there is no way they will be able to meet that deadline.
It does seem weird since you normally don't want to start road construction in the winter, adding to that weirdness is the fact they said they could and would work on the entrance this summer while the bat problem cleared up.
The thing about the bats is you cannot do any site work between March and November. Once they migrate, you're good to go. If it was a problem at the Tanyard Station site (even just one bat!), then there is a good chance they may have ran into that over at the proposed Crossing site. Hence why you see rumors of construction starting in the next 1-2 months.
From a source I know, there are no bats at the Crossing property. There's also a question on what's taking so long on the entrance approval as it's taken a month or 2 longer than expected. Not that there's been a lot of red tape but more along the lines of the DOH dragging their feet on the approval.

Same thing happened in Morgantown with the current TIF District. They dragged their feet for months. Probably those six figure income political hacks they have making those decision were on some sort of extended junket. Your approval will come sometime. Don't count on it before their annual Christmas party.

Is this new entrance going to involve adding turning lanes, traffic signals, etc. to the Big Ben Bowen Highway? Also, any idea how this property is going to be laid out to support large scale development? I've been told they are essentially going to level that mountain. Would be interested to hear what others are hearing?
I've been told that it will likely be two tiered with some shops on the bottom and the main development on the top. The land on top is supposedly flatter than it looks so it may not actually take much work to get it developed. I've not heard specifics about the intersection but I'd imagine there will be a turning lane and traffic light. It wouldn't take much to do that.
The two-tiered development certainly would make more sense. It's good to know that there is a decent amount of developable land on the top of that mountain; I would have never guessed that. Sounds like there might not be quite as much work involved as I had thought.
