Who would have ever thought diluted mayonnaise would be so wonderful?

Diluted with vinegar, lemon juice and lots and lots and lots and lots of salt and pepper.
This recipe with garlic and horseradish is not the original, even if it does come from Chris Lilly of Big Bob's.

We in Decatur always laugh at the Huntsville people who think Greenbriar is a mecca for all things BBQ. Too many BBQ places that are WAY better. Plus the waitresses don't snarl and say "whaddya want."

Actually, I never thought of either of the Greenbriers as BBQ destinations - we only ever eat catfish there. I've always considered them to be southern-style restaurants that just happened to have BBQ items on the menu.

Who know is the story is true, just what I heard.
This was the same story I heard years ago when the 565 location first opened. I like both OK, but there is much better BBQ around here. The smaller and backroads the place, the better the Q.

Bottom line, if you are craving a pigout on hushpuppies, then Greenbriar is the place to go.

Did you talk to Mrs. Bobby? She and her two sons own/run the place and I find it shocking that someone would "be promptly removed from the premises"... They are well-respected and well-known, especially in Limestone County and are great people (definition of Southern hospitality). Mrs. Bobby has hard a hard time since her husband passed away two years ago, but is always friendly and helpful.

I suggest you go back and talk to Mrs. Bobby.

fyi - on the food aspect, I think both places are pretty comparable...the bbq chicken is decent at both, but I like their whole catfish. The fried shrimp, fried oysters, and onion rings are great at Old Greenbrier.

Chris....consider the source who posted that.

I've asked about the "two Greenbriers" at both and never been "escorted out" nor even treated rudely at either. In fact, just the opposite.

FYI, the new Greenbrier is currently closed, they had a kitchen fire.

That is the best way to put it. I get BBQ every other time, but it's not by any means the best, but I have certainly had worse, much worse. On it's good days its really good, on it's off days it is just ok.

Yikes! Glad I didn't attempt to go on Friday then. Thanks for the heads up!

Obviously the story was stretched to create a good read for everyone. I do apologize if that took away from the inquiry.
