Sounds like Biden is using abortion politics to halt the move.

Or Tuberville threw sand in the gears with his idiot obstructionism on the military promotions front. Ticking off the entire DoD just so he can make a lazy grab for headlines wasn't the smartest of moves.

Certainly not a senator of the caliber of Shelby, Heflin, or Sparkman for sure.

Your assessment is spot on however once Biden was elected, the chances of the Space Command moving to Alabama was next to zero. Elections have consequences!

Biden is guilty of not following DoD policy.

I certainly can't argue those points. He was better at being a football coach.

It may or may not come, but it won't under Biden because the move was a Trump thing. And Biden has undone everything Trump ever did, good or not so good.

If true lot of people need to provide answers

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said Monday night that “a data-driven, multiyear search confirmed Huntsville was the best spot for USSPACECOM headquarters – not just once, but twice.”

If the report is accurate, Battle said Huntsville, “along with several other cities that also ranked higher than Colorado Springs in hosting Space Command headquarters, deserves an apology from the U.S. Department of Defense and Air Force for putting each community through this exhaustive and costly exercise, only to have the results dismissed due to the latest political discourse.”

“Not only does Huntsville have the talent and experience to oversee America’s military operations in space, but we also have secure land at Redstone Arsenal as well as 70-plus federal agencies providing robust military and aerospace expertise to protect our nation’s security,” Battle said. “Our high quality of life, low cost of doing business, schools, healthcare system and more also informed the vetting process that found Huntsville was the lead choice for making USSPACECOM a success.”

Win or lose, Battle said, “Huntsville will move forward and continue to be a good neighbor with our national military partners. We will work closely with our military and aerospace sectors to ensure Huntsville remains a key component in furthering USSPACECOM’s mission on both the national and global stage.”

“This report, if true, is very concerning for national security. This is the second article in two months discussing the possibility of Space Command remaining in Colorado,” U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt said.

“After the previous article, I questioned Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall directly during a hearing, and he assured us that the Space Command basing decision was his, and his alone. He told me that President Biden had put the decision squarely in his hands. I would like to know what has changed in the past two months.”

For the same AF general (Nicholson) who said he didn’t know which cities ended up where, in the rankings on any of the 3 studies speaks volumes to his inability to comprehend reading technical reports or his overt biases towards keeping Space command in Colorado or his deception under oath while testifying to Congress. “I don’t recall” was a common reply from General Nicholson in recent hearings.

The comments from Alabama politicians make it sound like it’s over. Just give up now. For years now the “decision” has been delayed is just code for waiting to find a reason. If Governor Ivey can’t explain the Alabama law to senior Air Force officials for them to comprehend, then SpaceCommand may very well end up in the third largest marijuana city in Colorado.

Remember there are senior bureaucrats, career Air Force, whose very homes and property depend on Space Command remaining in Colorado. Just check out the nauseating posts and threads they peddle on LinkedIn as if they are POWs to the cause. No factual basis, just whining.

Do you even know why Senator Tubberville is protesting DOD with stopping general officers’ promotions? DOD now actively funds (pays per diem and travel costs) for women to travel to states for abortions and then pays to for weeks of free medical leave. When did the federal tax dollars go and pay and reward women to get abortions?

The same prohibitions that DOD doesn’t like is the same abortion policy that exists every day in Alabama. As DOD training dollars are being reduced for warfighters, have faith that women seeking abortions can get paid to travel. Guessing the admiration for former Senator Shelby would be because he would look away like Senator McConnell is doing now. No thanks.

You are right. The decision is only based on Trump announcing the selection. Of course anyone that has been paying attention knows it is only about politics. People are grasping for an excuse so you can't put the blame on Biden. Since most everything else that has happened since January 2021 has been Biden's fault that will be hard not to do.

BTW, I don't know why anybody is pointing a finger at Senator Tubberville. It has nothing to do with him.

In the normal military, studies help support decision making (such as BRAC’s process) and then logical conclusions justify the final decisions. But this effort is different and although the studies AND Trump both reached the same conclusion that Huntsville was the best location, Biden has gone backwards and is finding ways to unravel formal studies with actual data.

It’s the hope for Huntsville that bureaucrats can slow roll the process until 2024 when a new president can right the decision and declare once and for all Huntsville as the destination. The two Senators should then ensure construction rapidly begins to finalize the decision by 2026 when it will be too late to change course.
