Don't Listen to them go to chesterton, IN they are an hour outside Chicago and 15 mintues away from every were else. They have a good school system and have the diner and gilmore girls thing.

Oh ok its not southern Indiana but the country thing ableto do with more then two acres or so and is excessable to gas stations and good stores. You don't have to drive an hour to get to walmart its 10 minutes and saves on gas. We have a crap load of places that sells antique car parts. Its a small town and you don't have to be on Highways you can take country roads if you want thier is really no difference betwwen us and the southern part of the state. Oh wait we have a lake a great lake which makes us the better part of the state.

Indiana is home
I grew up in Indiana, went away for a while, but am now back. Honestly, I missed the Indiana life. It is different in all parts of the state of course. I came from a very small town in southern Indiana near Greensburg called Westport. It is my opinion that in southern Indiana you get a sense of that "southern hospitality" going on. Bloomington is a beautiful college town with a steady economic outlook as far as culture and real estate are concerned.

Consider looking at Madison probably the most scenic river town in the Midwest used as a location for 3 motion pictures,it is also the largest contgues National Historic Landmark District in the entire county. The movies shot on location were "Madison" , Some came running and "The Town" which can be view at the National Archives site. Jobs are hard to come by, but stunning really!!!!
