Just some Kansas deer. It was just another day at the El Dorado Lake, but for some reason, there were so many packs of deer.

Tallest building in Salina.

It was probably the tallest between Kansas City and Denver when it was built 90 something years ago when the City encourage a local group of entrepreneurs to build a 'statement' building with the provision that the City would provide a tenant to lease enough space to pay the loans. My Great-Grandfather was the head of the development group that got the building constructed. He and they also formed an insurance company to be the major lease holder.

Nice arrangement. None of that fortune ever worked it's way down to me, though!



I am relying on anecdotal stories passed down by family and verified to some extent by old newspaper clippings. I always stop in Salina when traveling from Tennessee to the west.
