To get an acre in the areas you're talking about? Well, a half acre wouldn't be bad.

The houses on Lyons View tend to have large lots. 1/2 - 1 acre. You can gather a lot of info from looking at Zillow and other sites that show the lot lines.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse and need to rent a place for a vacation, then tour locations in person. The Pembroke downtown has short term fully furnished rentals, as do other apartment/condo complexes.

You are right, I was just telling my husband that. We'll either make about 3 trips and take a good look around, or rent a place with our kids over the summer. Thanks for the info on lots and rentals!

There are vacation rental homes that can be rented longer term. If you are out before football season you may get a good rate. That is in Knoxville. Summer is prime season in the Smokies.

I agree with creeksitter. AND you'll have to have a very healthy budget for Lyon's View, acre or not.

Three guesses to who owns this house.

I drove through Tennessee on my way to Texas. Nice state. They do have winter, albeit not as long or severe. I personally liked Knoxville and Nashville a lot...in that order. Memphis was a distant third, although Beale St was a blast. Tennessee does have a significant prescription drug problem, but they aren't having the surge in heroin like NE has recently. I can't comment on the schools.

Drugs are everywhere I guess. Its sad. I blame health insurance. They are getting rich off of this.

What are the winters like in the Knoxville area? How long does it last? Average temps and snow fall?
