In another thread, someone mentioned the location of a now defunct store.in west la.
It got me to thinking about the number of businesses that are no longer around.
All on this list were here before the internet was even an idea.
I did business with most of them when they were here.
These are just off the top of my head that I remember.
Any you know of, that I may have forgot?

Banks.. Security Pacific- Lincoln Savings-UCB(United California bank)-Crocker bank-First interstate.
Stores.. Buffums- The Broadway- May co. Bullocks-Zody's- Standard brands-Aaron Brothers-Ole's-Builder's emporium- Thrifty's
Markets.. Safeway-Alpha Beta-Lucky's-Market Basket.
Eateries.. Tiny Naylor"s-Copper Penny- Howard Johnson's- Brown Derby-Chasen's-Canters (are they still in business?) - Biffs out in Reseda.
I am sure there are some that I can't remember.

Naugles - fast food chain serving American style Mexican food and American fast food that was open 24/7. Very popular during the ‘80’s & ‘90’s in Southern California. Ate many “late night”
meals after studying late or hanging out in Southern California during those days. Recently, I read that someone bought the name and the chain is making a comeback in OC.

Van De Kamp’s Bakery - I guess they are all gone now. I recall the windmill.

Banks / Savings & Loans - Great Western Savings, Gibraltar Savings, Coast Savings, Cal Fed.

Stores - I. Magnin, Best Products, Harris & Frank.

OP, just FYI, Safeway still has stores in Northern California, as does Lucky’s.

Strouds Linens, which might have temporarily returned as an online retailer years later

Yes. Fry’s went out of business during the Coronavirus pandemic, if my memory is correct.

On the subject of electronics, some defunct audio & video shops that were around in the ‘80’s - University Stereo, Federated Group, and Pacific Stereo. All gone.

How could I forget? Tower Records (especially the location on Sunset in West Hollywood), The Warehouse Records and Music Plus. All gone.
