I miss the Bacons Dept stores and The Sizzler. Great shopping and eating. Those were the days.

There used to be a bunch of great drive-in theaters, like every place. The Twilight was one.

If you get a chance, drive over to the Georgetown Drive-in in Indiana. (Off I-64 West) It's like going back in time 40 years.

Also, I miss Stewart's Book Store downtown.

There is still a drive in the South end next to the Kenbowl bowling alley. It's called Kenwood Drive-in

Default Had the name wrong

You were right. It wasn't the Godfather. It was the TOY TIGER. I don't know where I got the Godfather.
No. I'm not talking about the motel 6. There is/was this tall tan/brown building (about 20 stories) that I could swear was next to the KFC next to the cinemas but before you got to motel 6. I can't be imagining it.....I drove down B-Town road every day.
I'm coming back next weekend so I'll have to drive by. I know there was some kind of condo/apt building there

Default The Collonade

In the basement of the Starks Building. Oh man I miss that place! Never had a bad lunch there.

Wow, I worked at Thorny's in high school in the late '80s. I think I still have some Thorny bucks somewhere. I remember the amazing wall of Corgi vehicles there when I was a kid.

I saw a Kiss cover band and a few other metal outfits at the Toy Tiger. Always an interesting ocassion. That tall building was the Brown Suburban hotel...now condos. I ate at the Clown (McDs) in front of it the other day. Oh man it was a ghetto scene, with the motel and all of the milling about.

Ehrlers did kick ass, but lately I've felt pacified by Graeters. The coconut chip is devilish!

Before it was the Toy Tiger, it was the Brown Suburban Showcase. Sort of a cocktail lounge/show bar. Very rat pack.

The Brown Suburban was a motel built by the Brown Hotel folks, I think, and the lounge was attached to it?

Speaking of Dept Stores there was also Ben Snyders, later renamed Snyders.

This was one of the big anchors for Dixie Manor shopping center in the 1960s and 70s.

Yeah, it was there. Prominent landmark on that stretch of Bardstown Rd. You could see it from the Watterson. I think it had apts or condos in it.

Oh my goodness I forgot about Snyders! Anyone remember Zayer's? How about the A & P?
