What is wrong with this thing? It feels like it's barely been open the three years I've lived here. Was it just not properly maintained over the years? This thing is a nightmare for folks on the New Albany side of the river, or anyone heading east/west through the city.

Officials say a component of the bridge deck on the Kentucky approach span was found to be in need of immediate repair before traffic can resume across the bridge.
This closure will remain in effect until the repair is made, and they did not provide a timeline.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Sherman Minton Bridge will be closed in both directions, on both the top and bottom deck until further notice.
Sherman Minton Renewal Team spokesperson Emma Collins says a component on the bridge deck on the Kentucky side was found to be in need of immediate repair before traffic can resume. The closure will remain in effect until the repair is made.

Sounds like it was unsafe and needed to close so they can repair.
I am in my 60's and remember it from when I was a child, it's been there awhile!
It is a renewal project that they have been working on.

Officials said the team is also continuing inspections throughout the night to evaluate the upper deck and preparing repair plans so that traffic can cross the bridge again as soon as possible.

The bridge has been going through a long-term repair and rehabilitation project and was closed Wednesday evening when engineers noticed a bearing and pier that support the upper deck needed repairs, according to the release.

The lower deck of the bridge has one eastbound and one westbound lane. The upper deck, which was already partially closed for rehab work, currently has one westbound lane.

Sounds like the bridge will reopen again Monday. What is the time table for all of the work to be completed and all lanes open again? Does anyone know?
