I remember that A&W in Shively--we used to go there quite a bit when I was little. You could get these tiny little glass rootbeer mugs--I venture to say they'd almost be a collectors item now. I eventually broke every single on of mine (what can I say, I was a clumsy little clod!

It's probably shut now too, but there was an A&W down in Valley as late as 98/99..? Footlong chili dog with an ice cold mug of A&W....mmmm.
Kingfish on Dixie--every time we ate there we all got sick.....but we kept going anyway!
the new Kingfish down on the waterfront was quite nice last time I was there --it IS still there, isn't it?--which was **thinking, thinking**......1999.

In the early 60s - does anybody remember a mall entrance or shopping center entryway in Louisville that contained a play area for children which included a big "climb on" and crawl under dinosaur or turtle or something? The back of it had concave step-like scales? that we could climb onto and up.... I must have been about 4, maybe it was in 1963 and I have memories?? of playing there with family friends' kids - just wonder if this magical place existed??? It would be great to hear that somebody else remembers this and can confirm??? Thanks!

Wow, I'm getting a mental picture here...yep, I'm pretty sure it was a turtle...
It was green, and you could grab one of those little-dippy-circles, while you had a foot in the other. I'd climb to the top, roll over, and slide down the side.
I don't really remember where it was either. Could it have been Bashford Manor when it was new? Or maybe The Mall, when it was new?
Wow, thinking of this stuff makes my back hurt...and my knee...and maybe I need a little nap now...

Could it have been Arlans? They had big supergraphics painted on the sides and back, facing I-65?
What I recall about that place was that it had a suprising excellent arts and crafts section, where you could get plasticine clay. Hard to find stuff. But they had it. Another place that had a suprising specialty was that old Woolco in Valley Station, which had a great photographic hobbyists supply section, including developer/contact paper. Again something you'd never see in a typical big box.

I remember that A&W in Shively--we used to go there quite a bit when I was little. You could get these tiny little glass rootbeer mugs--I venture to say they'd almost be a collectors item now. I eventually broke every single on of mine (what can I say, I was a clumsy little clod!
