I didn't know black and blue cars were in more accidents. Is it because they're harder to see at night? Does snow melt off much quicker than a light colored car?

I owned a black car in 1981. Never again. It looked dirty 30 minutes after I washed it. If I had staff to wash it every day, maybe.

Black is great as long as you keep it clean.
Fortunately I have the time to keep it looking like this.
One thing i have never done to any vehicles I have owned is, bring them to a car wash.
Soap takes away the wax protection.
Because I have dedtailed them correctly, the only thing I use to clean them is water.
My Dakota is 21 years old, and despite it being black, always looks like this.

bought it new in 2002.
Presently it has 64000 miles on it.

If you were in MA, that black truck would unfortunately be a varying shade of lime green/yellow right now courtesy of all the pollen.

We have pollen here in California as well.
When it is covered in pollen, it gets sprayed with the hose, then dried with a leaf blower.
Because it has a good coat of wax three times a year, nothing sticks to the finish.
Another thing that helps is it is covered up when not being used.
Now, the Corvette is the daily driver and again, it always looks as clean as the pickup, pollen or not.

i think so, but I certainly haven’t done any scientific study on it. My wife’s car is silver. When we get 2-3” of snow and I don’t clean either car off, if it’s bright and sunny I noticed mine usually is clear much much sooner than hers and they are both parked side by side.

Does it make a significant difference? Prob not.

Any car in MA is dirty for half the year anyway. It rains/snows every other day.

LoL if that were in MA it would be covered in salt and brown snow half the year. Of course cars in CA will last forever compared to MA.

Nah. My car is dirty all year. The dealer runs it through their car wash every 6 months when it’s in for an oil change. I’ll rinse off road salt with a hose the first above freezing day. I hose down the aftermarket Tuxmat floor mats occasionally and clean the inside of the windshield and NAV touchscreen pretty often.

When I wintered in Vermont, the car looked like I’d been off roading in the spring. Dirt driveway to the condo and the ski area parking lot is a mud bog.
