Lots of older folks these days from MA split time between MA and the southern states. So their MA house sits empty all winter and part of spring.

It doesn't, but you want prices to be lower to accommodate those that can't afford to live here?

If it means building ugly housing complexes in every town then no.

Right, it's still possible to find a SFH in milton for about the same.

I don't know much about Milton, but those new condos look nice to me. I suspect for people in my situation (late 50s, empty nesters, downsizing) they are pretty appealing.

they are nice, but there's been a lot of discussion about the need for multi unit housing...in every town. At this point it doesn't seem to be making much difference as far as prices go

Found a flipper in Shrewsbury doing their thing. Bought it at the end of last year for over list at $515k and put it back on the market at 850k. They just cut it to 780k so that's a substantial cut - must not have anyone interested. That's still a lot for so far away.

It's hardly "far away". Definitely a lot of money for a house like that though.
