$788K for a 984 sq foot house on less than 1/4 acre in Lexington that needs quite a bit of work. My oh my....what a state we live in! 9 Preston Rd, Lexington, MA 02420 | MLS #73190957 | Zillow

The listing calls it a great "starter" home. I know lots of salaries are high in this state but how many first time buyers honestly have the sufficient amount for a down payment to buy a $788K fixer upper tiny home plus the funds needed to throw a new roof on it and update everything else it needs over time?!

Yeah, starter home in this context means "hello rich people, please see this wonderful opportunity to build your future white cape-colonial-farmhouse mishmash with metal roof and black windows"

Yep. The dirt the house sits on is worth $750k.

Yep although the lot is small and it would be tough to squeeze a modern farmhouse on it.

If one looks at the satellite map on Zillow, the houses on each side aren't much bigger and both with Zillow estimates of over $1 million.

Maybe towns that have no hotels will now be all the rage since you know migrants won't be housed there and kids won't end up at your kids school suddenly.
