You're welcome.

Although you may have grown up "dirt poor," you've probably also had the advantage of not being a "disenfranchised minority" in American society. It must be nice to have the luxury of only being concerned with one's individual well-being and not that of an entire people.

Like Barack Obama? Or Colin Powell? Oprah? Condoleezza Rice? Michael Jordan? Tiger Woods? Cory Booker? Alex Haley? Bill Cosby? Halle Berry? Denzel Washington? Jesse Jackson? Stevie Wonder? Ray Charles? Lebron James?

Nope, I'm not disenfranchised.

Your pupule man, how does one or a few poor locals impact the aina, da culture or communities in such a negative way as the rich, corporatations do? Is it the poor or middle class that fails to follow safety procedures that dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of molasses that killed millions of fish and destroyed the reefs because it was cheaper to not do a proper timely inspection which would of found the faulty leaking pipe.

@Whtviper1

Continued from my last post

Is it the poor & middle class in Hawai'i that moves into a community and builds big box stores against the wishes of the people of the community, driving out local business, people and changing lifestyles?

Is it the poor or middle class trying to get around zoning laws to build to tall buildings or destroys sacred burial grounds and on and on.

No viper the corporate and the rich have alot more impact negatively on our homes then myself etc. So instead of blaming the poor for there personal choices of not being rich, maybe take a look at your attitudes and actions. Because all that stuff above has nothing to do with money but is an attitude, thinking issue! peace out!

I don't know who you're addressing but EVERYBODY is impacted by the actions of others.

On a small island, your actions have an even more direct impact on other people.

@Everyone

I was wondering if anyone could interpret whtvipise? Im just at a loss in understanding. So if someone asks corporations or the rich to be socially, environmentally etc responsible before the love of money. Its communism or socialism? But the ideal of the poor are poor because of poor morality and if they did the exact samethings as the rich do then they will get rich and have the same results too, is that not communism or socialism in theory too?? Or

Is it more along the lines of what viper says "Hawaii is no different from the mainland in everyway" Which means anyone on the mainland could talk about day to day life in Hawaii or moving issues? But he is the first to tell people you don't live in Hawaii to discredit someone? WTH anyone confused?

I first visited Maui in the 70's when there was NO ONE on the beach at Kihei. I doubt if I will ever go there again. The rich want housing and the island is small.

You would think people would learn from the example of Oahu in over building and being crowded and just not start doing it again on a different island.
