I like to have quiet slow mornings before I start my day.

Me too. You're going to love retirement.

Someone recently said to me on this board that the list I said at the beginning is, "what life's all about! The big things are staged and always somehow disappoint."

I agree about it being what life's about. Certain people though just can't enjoy the simple things (I guess to your surprise). My fiance's narc(issistic) family members surely CANNOT. They couldn't just have a nice, relaxing day at home if you paid them. They have to always be doing something, going to some party, being where the action is, being at someone's house, go go go, or else they think you don't have a life & are a sorry sap if you aren't always in action. But the truth is, that they have miserable lives, aren't

I wouldn't necessarily agree w/ the 2nd part about how, "big things are staged and always somehow disappoint". It's hard to say the words ALL, ALWAYS, or NEVER about things because it just isn't so. There's a lot of big events that are fabulous.

- looking at my dog
- looking at my corvette and starting it, hear the deep growl
- sun shining. Even though I am in Cali for 12 years now, I am still happy to see the sun almost every day
- getting texts from my friends
- deep hugs from just anyone
- eating is very pleasurable for me. I am an internally fat person, I could eat all day
- sex (sorry, you asked)
- a drive along the coast, looking at the ocean
- strangers smiling at me

I LLLOOOOOOVE IT. I made it growl really deep and I enjoy it every time I drive it. 7 speed nowadays. I don't even know what to do with so many gears.

Regarding the 7 speed, short-shift.

Enjoy in good health.

I am a simpleton too and love the simple things.

Sunsets
Watching birds come and go
Seeing a waterfall
People watching
Watching waves spash on the beach
Seeing cars run up and down a road
Watching the rare snow fall
Lying out in the sun
Watching dogs at the dog park
Loitering at a sidewalk cafe
Driving around aimlessly just seeing the sights
Watching aircraft fly overhead, especially at night
Seeing the night lights of a vibrant city

Yes, I love the simple things in life. They usually cost little to nothing and are relaxing or entertaining. Any break from the rat race is a good break. Any excuse to unwind is a good excuse.
