Of course it's still being debated, as it should be. The article asks; "If the conventional history is wrong, why has it lasted 500 years"? Because Guess Who wrote the history and maintains it today? How is the answer to the question not obvious? Who is in control of the writing and publishing of the history books and articles?
Fascinating facts and alternative narrative provided by the article. Thanks for posting! I'd never heard, that the Aztecs revolted. In New Mexico, all the Pueblo communities revolted as well, and drove the Spanish out of the territory altogether in 1680, for their abusiveness, enslavement of the locals, and for imposing their religion and trying to kill off the Native healers.
Mexico is an indigenous nation, In the late 19 century almost 40% of the Mexican People spoke indigenous languages, Then the president and the elites had a brilliant idea of forcing people to abandon their cultures And adopting the Spanish European culture, You can see how that worked.

Those who speak indigenous languages and don't speak Spanish in Mexico live mostly subsistence lives. There are plenty of indigenous communities and a large share of indigenous living in Mexico. Sure they are discriminated against and deserve better, but its a fallacy to think things would be much better for them or all of the country if the Spanish culture and language weren't adopted.
You mean to say why speak the language they have spoken since it came to existence? Last I check, Mexico isn't an indigenous nation and the only way to create it as one is to simply lie about it, pretend, make believe, something that simply isn't true. It reminds me of a quote that says "the truth is the truth even if people think the opposite" or something like that.
Last time I checked, most Mexicans have a real genetic tie to Spain that pops up every single time a DNA study is done on the population. I could be wrong, but don't think so. Maybe in the Philippines or in Ecuatorial Guinea it's different since most people have no ancestors from Spain, so the language and culture had to be imposed on a people that had nothing to do with the Mother Country. Not quite the case in Mexico or in most of Spanish America for that case.
Someone else mention the USA, but except in certain geographic areas, I think most Americans have no genetic connection to England. English is the dominant language in the USA, no?
Mexican Spanish is very different from Spanish spoken in Spain. And actually, Mexico seems to be more successful that many Central and South American countries in maintaining their indigenous culture.

That is false, is the same language, the only thing that changes is the accent and the colloquial expressions but the root of the language is the same.
