I third Queretaro, it's one of the places I'm considering for part of the year, but, the other part of that time, I have to be near a beach, so I'm also looking at Veracruz for beach time.
I'm retiring to Queretaro. It's very comfortable most of the time.
Interesting topic. I just looked up Queretaro. While in New Mexico, the temps at over 7000 feet (Santa Fe) are mid-80's with an occasional spike to 90, with occasional rain showers, Queretaro at about 6000 feet, is a cool 74! That's amazing! And Lake Chapala, another popular expat locale, is 72 with daily showers. NM used to have summer "monsoons", but those have petered out and dried up in recent years. Mexico actually looks to be in better shape, in some regions.

Have you looked at Lake Chapala? There, you'd have beach as well as cool, highland weather.

Yes, the water quality is some of the worst in the developed parts of the country. I've done an extensive search with certain criteria including safety factors. There are many places that fit what I want climate wise but they often have many disqualifying qualities for my comfort. I love where I am now, which is Quintana Roo, but, it's just too hot, most days I don't go outside, for me the heat here is insufferable at this time.

Veracruz for beach time? Yep nothing like a cold coconut water served with a view of filthy sea and the light odor of oil.

Why so angry? But appreciate your info I will look further into the beach water condition, though my concerns were more about the area suggested to me and other such places was that I wouldn't even want to use their water to shower in. Also, I was looking into VC for it's proximity to Queretaro for when I wanted beach time, but, you may be right that's VC might not be a great choice overall. I will keep looking.
You do know it's summer right? For this time of year, those temps are perfect in comparison to many other places, those temps are much cooler. No one said cool temps year everyday of the year, the question was for averages year round, come back when you have those figures.
I do hope the rest of your day puts you in a better mood.
In Guadalajara it's usually around 80 every day this time of year. It's rainy season July to Sep so often overcast, but really comfortable and rains don't last long. GDL basically has three seasons:
Air conditioning isn't a necessity but it's nice to have in April/May when there are some 90+ degree days. Even then it's fairly dry during hot season so comfortable in the shade and cools off quickly at night, nothing oppressive heat like in Yucatan/QR.
From about mid December to early February a space heater is helpful in the mornings until sun heats things up.
