The overall Army policy - which covers Army Reservists - permits Soldiers to wear their ACUs anywhere if they are going to or from work. There are rules of behavior, though, if you're in public and wearing ACUs. For example, you aren't supposed to have more than 2 drinks containing alcohol. Individual commands within the Army can set their own rules - some state that Soldiers should avoid wearing ACUs while traveling. I don't know what the Air Force policy is. HTH
One additional thing to think of is if you are traveling by airline, a service member is not supposed to be in uniform. However, that being said those coming home to the US from Iraq or Afgan on their 2 week leave are supposed to fly home in uniform. So, if you see a service member in uniform at the airport, give 'em the thumbs up and if you have time buy them lunch.
The AF says you can wear your cammies for short convience trips...meaning to stop for gas or buy milk or bread. No you're not suppose to go grocery shopping at Wal Mart in your cammies. Nor should you be out in public at a bar drinking alcohol in your cammies.
The AF does say you're allowed to dine out where similar AF attire is worn....meaning it's fine if your section decides to do lunch at Pizza Hut at 11 am in uniform.
Lol..funny i see my fellow AF at walmart or at other grocery store (off-base) a lot of times. Deez is right but the rules seem to be loosely interpreted in places.
Dude, ask an NCO in your USAF reserve unit. That's why they get paid more than Airmen. Sheesh, let's say someone on here told you "Yes, I have the reg. right in front of me and it says you can wear it." then you get blessed out for doing so.
Ask some NCO or download the regulation. This is too easy.
