Wait, so Biden is suppose to pull the troops out, but the troops will still be there. That is an oxymoron, I do not understand life anymore.

The Stans are not SoBe, or Ibiza, but its good enough for the people there.

Blinken being in India is not a coincidence. He’s trying to put pressure on Pakistan for obvious reasons to help the situation in Afghanistan.

It looks like the Biden administration will not let Afghanistan fall to the Taliban. I think that’s a smart move because watching the Taliban seize Kabul isn’t something you can come back from politically.

Hmmm. India’s influence on Pakistan may not be what you think it is.

If the Biden administration is trying to prevent the Taliban from overtaking Afghanistan, they might want try harder. For example, the Taliban now controls twice as much territory than just last year.

It’s leverage. If Pakistan won’t help the US contain the Taliban, then we need to give them an incentive to do so. Perhaps backing India on a bunch of issues that could hurt Pakistan? That might change their mind.

The US has had decades to try working on India as a pawn to motivate Pakistan. In 30 days, President Biden is pulling out of Afghanistan on a set date when the country is losing a province each week. The optics get worse for President Biden each day. Now former Generals (Petraeus) are openly dismissing the departure.

The situation gets more dire each week yet there is no change from President Biden. Have there been any recent press briefings and will there be in 30 days? It’s clear from the draft FY22 NDAA that both sides of the aisle want to do more than flee.

Yes, the situation is getting very intense. Helmand Province, Herat, and Kandahar are under serious attack right now. They hit the runway at Kandahar, so flights have been halted there.

Biden needs to make the call now and get us back in there. It disgusts me to see places that I know so well about to fall. I’d go back in, no questions asked.

Default Russia helping countries north of Afghanistan

Russia is providing assistance to Tajikistan as it defends the lines against the expanding Taliban and Tajik militants. The Taliban continue their increase in land control by the week.

Great article on the concerns ahead from the withdrawal in Afghanistan.

Pakistan said it supports peace in Afghanistan but still will not allow U.S. forces into its country. The bordering countries to the north are extremely concerned on the likelihood of a large refugee crisis.

Default Kunduz falls from Afghan control

Unfortunate news on expanding Taliban victories, now they’ve secured their largest city. Recall this is the city heavily fought when the Taliban were using a hospital as an outpost. Now the city has fallen. Taliban isn’t waiting for the U.S. to exit. Doesn’t come up in press briefings either.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/08/asia/...ntl/index.html

At the bottom of the article, the American Embassy announced on Friday that Americans need to evacuate immediately, which means all NGOs (USAID and others) will be packing up over the weekend. Clearly the U.S. is removing the State dept. said of the options in addition to removing the military options.

Not sure how even a working embassy and small force, which will be isolated, will be functional.
