If you like squirrels, as we do, and don't care if they eat all your birdseed that's great! But seriously, if you want to keep squirrels from eating the birdseed in the feeder, this one is fool proof. Absolutely, 100%. They can't "hang upside down" and eat. They can't eat, at all. Posted this upthread.
I honestly don’t mind sharing with the squirrels, but they don’t share, they pig out! They’ll sit and eat the sunflower or mixed seeds until it’s gone.
Same with the white wing doves and sparrows.
Before the sparrows discovered my feeders, my one small hanging feeder would last a week and a half or more, with cardinals, chickadees, finches all feeding. Mourning doves gently picking up the overflow on the ground.
These sparrows empty that thing almost daily!
I have a lot of squirrels on my backyard due to numerous pecan trees growing there.
I use wire (stretched out clothes hangers). They can't grab that thin wire.
Thanks for all the suggestions and I'm trying to decide between the Squirrel Buster Plus or the Standard. There's quite a difference in price. Will also order dome covers for all my feeders.
I have one of these. Squirrel goes on the ledge and it drops and closes the food hatches. Just make sure you lock the top down securely (it has a catch in back).
Those do a good job of thwarting the squirrels, but in one of them that I have (I have 4 I use in a rotation), the perch is extra-sensitive and many larger birds have trouble using it because it closes very easily. Even cardinals have a hard time with that one. Even with my other 3 "normal" ones, Blue jays sometimes have a hard time with them.
I have stopped the squirrels with a cone, but the racoons are a different story. They tear up the cone and the feeders. I have to take in the feeders each night.

I haven't had to touch mine, but on the Brome Squirrel Buster, the spring tension should be adjustable to allow you to tune it to the weight threshold you want to exclude
Yesterday, I saw a squirrel perched on the railing on my deck, staring intently at my Squirrel Buster feeder a few feet away.
After a few moments, he turned and scampered away.
I guess he figured it wasn't worth the effort to try to bust it.
