England has somewhat similar system to the US, and Russia is a second world country. Try Scandinavian and other Western European countries that have modern infrastructure.

The next big push for "safety" will be speed cameras
These will make red light cameras look tame.

Speed cameras can be placed anywhere along any road, not just at intersections with red lights.
behind signs
look thru holes in signs
behind bushes
They can be set to give you a ticket for doing 26 in a 25 zone
How many times have you passed a speed warning sign where it tells you your speed.
and you have been over the speed limit
think a ticket for each time

The state coffers have not benefited from red light cameras, they could with speed cameras.
How many times have you done 67 or 70 (or more) down the Parkway or I78?

How about a speed camera every 5-10 miles?

They couldn't print the tickets fast enough
cha ching, cha ching

I don't think so. maybe in the past people would have thought im nuts, but I don't get that nearly as much as before. we all know that many cops now have scanners on their cars that record the location of every car that passes them. am I seriously to believe those cameras on the lights aren't also recording that info? oh, we also now know that ezpass is registering your speed when they are taking your toll payment. so the concept of something being used for one use and also used for another sneaky use is quite mainstream. oh and im sure the ezpass data is shared with the same people that pull the info from those lights and cameras and cop scanner databases.

oh and I forgot to add that we also know that law enforcement has fake cell phone towers that they use to know where everyone's cell phones are and who knows what else that technology allows them to know.
