I guess I'm that odd-ball who's more of a rooter for Arizona thanks to growing up in a similar, dry climate and desert region in SoCal.
Going on three years out here in what I still consider an "alien land", I could definitely see why eastern NM and west TX seem to be interchangeable with each other and could be considered the "neglected" parts of each respective state.
That said, the stereotypical cowboy culture around here could be so cartoonish at times, one can't peel their eyes away from it.
I voted for Colorado but I like Oklahoma as well -- there are some nice museums in Tulsa and OKC and I enjoy Bricktown. I like some of the small towns. I have very little experience with Arizona other than driving through on I-40. I've had more experience with Texas. Momma said if you can't say anything nice don't say anything so I won't talk about Texas. (Biting my tongue)
There is an undeniable large presence of that in many parts (not all) of Texas, especially considering the way many of them vote and its not something I really appreciate about the state at all. That and the cockiness and big egos about all things Texan, really hard for me to understand. There are many parts of Texas that are way out of my comfort zone for sure.
I do get the cockiness from Texans, just as I understand it from those in NYC. It's deserved. Bigger is better in many ways...Texas is a complex place. It's not all Red Staters and cowboys. Baptists in the Metroplex, Bayou wanna-bes by Port Arthur, academics and creative types in Austin, shrimpers in the gulf, plus the cowboys in the Plains.
I'm going to Big Bend in a month. An example of even more diversity. First time....very excited.

Too bad we've got to weed-whack our way through the Red Staters and Cowboys in the western/panhandle region to get to all the cool stuff in TX.
Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view about our neighboring states? Which neighboring state do you like the most? Do you take vacations/weekend getaways in Colorado or Arizona? Do you get down to El Paso, or perhaps all the way to Dallas or elsewhere in Texas? Technically Oklahoma is a bordering state as well, though a small border far away from most of the state. If you've been to Chihuahua, Mexico you can include that in the discussion as well.
Mostly this will be a discussion about Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. How do you feel about them?
Its Texas for me.Texas is my favorite followed by Arizona.
