Is there a Costco or a 24 hrs. Fitness health club?
Costco or Sam's Clubs are in the largest cities....Costco is very new to the Upper Midwest and did open one in West Fargo last year. There is a Sam's Club in Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck and soon to be one in Minot.
Some smaller towns do have a branch of the 24 hour fitness place Anytime Fitness. But your sams club type places will be in the larger cities.
It is not uncommon for people who live in the small towns drive to the city for shopping and stock up on items. Many come with coolers for taking home meat, etc.
If you want rural living you are not going to have big city conveniences.

Well it is time for a change as far as big city conveniences and prices go.
I think it is called BJ's which is another large chain of warehouse stores throughout the US.
Going to a tiny town is overkill. Even the Fargo-Moorhead area, the largest city in the state, will be tiny compared to the San Francisco Bay Area. I suspect that you'd be happiest looking at Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, and even the larger cities in South Dakota.
In just over two years in ND, I’ve talked to a number of people in small towns. It seems like the common theme was to make a trek to Fargo or Grand Forks for staples about 1-2 times a month.
There are a lot of nice small towns outside Fargo like Kindred, Casselton, Mapleton etc. Just remember North Dakota is a bring your own girlfriend kind of state.

Name of those places you mention have come up before. Thanks for the info.
I will also consider the northern part of Idaho that borders 3 states. Maybe get less snow there?
Idaho is another sparsely-populated state (but not as much as ND). The panhandle (northern bit) and the western bit are lower in elevation and closer to the coast, so yes, they get less snow than the SE part that's near Yellowstone. A bit warmer, too.

Thanks it warrants investigation into this further.
