I'm sure you can find the exact details on the website I posted.

And, for the record, I grew up in Chgo, went to CPS and wouldn't send my kids to Merrillville when there are far better choices in NWI.

Even though I am White, I still want to live with others that are like myself. That is, others whom I share a culture, religion and a common history with.

Some may want to call me names because of my wishes.

Though if I was a black, brown or a yellow man with the same wishes, I might be okay. -- John

I grew up in Valpo and am now 36. When i was in elem. we had maybe 3 black students. I personally saw no differance. When I was in H.S. we had a large amount of black families move to the area from Chicago. I must say our school had zero tolerance before there was any! We were brought into the auditorium and told of the changes coming and what was and wasn't acceptiable. I, being white dated several black students. Later went on to have a bi-racial child. My husband and I are seriously considerig moving to Valpo just because of all the problems we have had here in his home town with the schools. I believe people in Valpo are more accepting of change, after all it aint the 1940's! I personally have issues with racial ignorance and am looking for a change of pace and Valpo is 100% on my radar!

Valpo indeed has regretful history of violent racism. Young man and mother moved in at encouragement of White friend. He was targeted because he was Black then beaten to death on road. Remember this
was approx 20-30 years ago but still a tarnished history.
