I have talked to a lot of supervisors who where sent up to CAP for a few months, they all told me to live in merrillville. Any thoughts or suggestions?

jeffnative--I'm not sure why your supervisors would tell you merrillville. There are other towns that are closer.

Uh, no.

Dyer, Munster, Highland.

Merrillville? Nope.

I guess what I am asking is, what area has lowest taxes, low crime, most house for your money. Plans have changed, looks like we will be living up there for at least 3 years, so now we are looking to buy instead of renting. Thanks in advance for any help. Jeff Boy

For all that, you'll need to come to Porter county.

But the commute will be bad.

So, my pick is Dyer.

What kind of price range are you looking at?

(And here's the public portal to the Realtor's MLS: www.gniarmls.com This will show you everything agent's see for the most part. Best site to home search locally.)

I would still choose Dyer too.

up to about 150-160k range. We now have a 1700 sq/ft 1 story all brick ranch, 3br, 2bath. So we are looking for something similar.
