We have air hockey, and maybe ours is not top of the line, but as my son and his friends got older and stronger, that puck was flying everywhere. This was a gift and my choice would have been ping pong as we had one in our basement growing up and the whole family played for years.
My two kids enjoy both air hockey and ping pong, probably favoring air hockey, but not by much. I prefer air hockey because you rarely have to chase after the puck, whereas you have to chase after the ping-pong ball all the time. They tend to do fooz ball only when in groups.
Ping Pong by a nudge over Air Hockey. Both good lessons in hand eye coordination and basic physics (ping pong, more so). Ping Pong do not need to plug in. Foosball third. To much frustration with trying to manipulate more controls than having hands to do so and often a danger when someone gets rowdy (slamming the control rods into opponent- LOL).
