I never did, but that’s because I was never interested in basketball. Our driveway wasn’t well suited to one anyway.

Here where I live now, you’re either in the city where you don’t really let kids out to play, or you’re in the burbs where a hoop is pretty common equipment.

We are in the Chicago suburbs and we have an in ground hoop. As do my neighbors on either side of me. All of our boys play every single day. For hours. There is always a pick up game going on. 2 of my boys play travel basketball as do my neighbor's kids, but their friends who do not play ball still come over to play. Best money that we have ever spent installing our hoop.. My boys are early teens/tweens. Kids are also outside in my neighborhood all the time.....I have to practically drag my kids inside every day. But they love their phones as well, no doubt.

That's pretty sad. Growing up, mine was used on a near-daily basis over summer vacation

Your neighborhood sounds like a time capsule from the '90s...glad places like this can still be found, however few and far between they may be

Kids just have more options these days aside from just shooting a ball into a net repeatedly. Not really sure why people think it's sad? Back in the day kids played stickball, kick the can, marbles...I don't think anyone plays those games anymore as things have evolved. People do still have basketball nets but they have more options. I sometimes think there are too many options for everyone these days....but we can't really stop technology and other people from coming up with more ideas.

Those seem more old school to me. I mostly see the standing ones. I'm guessing people have kids really into Basketball playing on teams then they might have one
