If adults would say that then drop them from your Christmas card list. Also know that kids will say it.
It's a fine name.
And don't be surprised if it's the favorite uncle who calls him that. lol
I have a brother who ALL the younger nieces and nephews pretend not to like, but it's all part of the fun, and he's just a big ol kid himself, and he gets the kids all riled up (all in fun.) He's the type who would call Cooper "Cooper Pooper Scooper".
You now have that stuck in your head and not sure you can change that, but this is the very reason my SIL decided NOT to share the name they picked out for their 2nd child.
We "practiced" the names we picked out for a male or female (wanted to be surprised) and some dropped by the way side pretty quickly. Yelling a name and saying the full name out loud made a difference over time how we felt about it.
OP this is great advice, to practice yelling the name and saying the full name out loud does make a difference.
Cooper is a fine name and I like Coop too as a nickname.
But it really doesn't matter what I think OP. I'm not sure you're "feeling" the name anymore. Are you moving away from it and looking for justification to do so?
Would love you to share some of the other names you're considering OP. I love names. Even to the point of asking dog owners their dog's names.
“Cooper” is a last name. Why not “Kowalski?” Would you name him that? (No offense to you Kowalskis out there!)
Do not give a kid a last name as a first name.
My wife says THE EXACT SAME THING! Regardless of their name, kids will find ways to 'pick on' someone if they want. I agree, it's important to have the laugh it off ability and personality- if they know it bugs you then they will harp on the subject, whereas if you joke about it too, they will let it go.
Mine are Grant, Lydia, Spencer, Octavian, and Lavinia. Good luck with that.

Hunter, Taylor, Tyler, Jackson, Madison, Riley, Harrison, Logan, Parker, Mackenzie, and the list goes on....

These.
Uh, Sam. On second thought you might not want to share your other name choices.

Same. All Golden Retrievers.
