It's a fine name.
And don't be surprised if it's the favorite uncle who calls him that. lol

I have a brother who ALL the younger nieces and nephews pretend not to like, but it's all part of the fun, and he's just a big ol kid himself, and he gets the kids all riled up (all in fun.) He's the type who would call Cooper "Cooper Pooper Scooper".

We "practiced" the names we picked out for a male or female (wanted to be surprised) and some dropped by the way side pretty quickly. Yelling a name and saying the full name out loud made a difference over time how we felt about it.
OP this is great advice, to practice yelling the name and saying the full name out loud does make a difference.

Cooper is a fine name and I like Coop too as a nickname.

But it really doesn't matter what I think OP. I'm not sure you're "feeling" the name anymore. Are you moving away from it and looking for justification to do so?

Would love you to share some of the other names you're considering OP. I love names. Even to the point of asking dog owners their dog's names.

“Cooper” is a last name. Why not “Kowalski?” Would you name him that? (No offense to you Kowalskis out there!)
Do not give a kid a last name as a first name.

Mine are Grant, Lydia, Spencer, Octavian, and Lavinia. Good luck with that.

These.

Uh, Sam. On second thought you might not want to share your other name choices.

Hmmm. When I think of a guy named Cooper, I think of a long, lean cowboy type. Like...there SHOULD be a character named Cooper on Yellowstone.

There are/were players in the NFL with the name Cooper, i.e., Cooper Kupp, Cooper Carlisle, Cooper Helfet so I think he will be fine.
