Despite the title on this article, and despite the fact that there are worrisome aspects to the online life of kids, this is mainly about the new-ish nicotine product, Zyn.

Our Kids Are Living In a Different Digital World
Parents need to know that when children go online, they are entering a world of influencers, many of whom are hoping to make money by pushing dangerous products. It’s a world that’s invisible to us, because when we log on to our social media, we don’t see what they see. Thanks to algorithms and ad targeting, I see videos about the best lawn fertilizer and wrinkle laser masks, while Ian is being fed reviews of flavored vape pens and beautiful women livestreaming themselves gambling crypto and urging him to gamble, too.

Very well written explanation of a problem from an obscure source (thanks for finding it): the way the internet “works” is a new way to advertise, market and make profits pushing addictive products to youngsters - under the radar of regulators.

Parents beware! Do something about it. Sounds like a real challenge though.
