No I did not. I'm thinking although Italian bakeries sold it, It's not Italian but and Italian/American bread from the Newark area.

I didn't know for a long time that outside of the Newark area, many never heard of Italian style hot dogs. We make them at home now and enjoy them on "pizza bread". Sometimes we can find the pizza bread at an Italian deli.

Yes and we only know it as "pizza bread". I baked ciabatta the other day and my family said it was very similar. My Son suggested baking the ciabatta dough in a round pie pan. I know that 'pizza bread" is enriched like our white bread so I add dry milk powder and olive oil to the dough. Very similar.

I too, came from Harrison, N.J., where there was a store called " Louie the sausage king ". He used this type of bread to make terrific Zah-zeech sandwiches. Does anyone know where I can buy this, "pizza" bread?

I've lately fallen in love with naan, Indian, bread. It is kind of like pita, but puffier and greasier. It would be yummy with Italian toppings.

I was born and raised in Newark, not far from original JB on 9 St. I worked at Westinghouse in Newark and know people that worked at PSE & G.
