Most desireable? Insane traffic, cookie cutter homes, backwards people. I'd have to disagree on this one!

Placer County has ranked as the highest county by percentage of registered Republicans several times. I don't know what the trends are for the county, I don't care, and it doesn't matter because those rankings don't prove anything and the percentage of Registered voters for a party can shift if one of the parties gets a candidate who is good at PR and can BS the public into registering for whatever party the candidate is affiliated with. The overall trend is trending to the left throughout California and many other parts of the country anyway, and it has nothing to do with liking Democrats over Republicans, but rather, the middle-class, which was solidly Republican for many years, is starting to figure out the Republicans have abandoned them for the campaign contributions from global entities.

The amount of registered Democrats or Republicans doesn't make a region left or right. The City of Sacramento is predominantly Democrat, yet it is rare for the voters in the City to vote for increasing taxes. The transportation sales tax and the proposition regarding community college construction are the only two exceptions I can think of. Many regions with a majority of registered Republicans voted similarly, so these things aren't polarized as conservative vs liberal as much as many people think they are.

Once you leave the City of Sacramento the rest of Sacramento County has a majority of registered Republicans. The exceptions are those areas with a lot of minorities, section 8 housing, or a combination of both. Florin, Del Paso Heights/Arcade Creek, some areas of Rancho Cordova. I just moved to the area between Starfire and Rancho Cordova and surprisingly I've seen a few faded McCain 2008 bumper stickers on several cars. Although most of the neighbourhood is solid middle-income with the exception of the areas with multi-family housing. Yolo County is majority Democrat in all urbanized areas regardless of income, as far as I know.
One of your best posts ever! My part of Carmichael is heavily Democratic tho, The Pubbies tend to live in McMansions along the American River.

To a lot of people Roseville / Rocklin is a lot more desirable than other areas of the Sacramento region. You made a negative generalization of "backwards people". I don't live there but feel that was pretty immature of you to say. Just because some people don't have the "progressive" view of you doesn't mean they are backwards.

Even the cookie cutter homes doesn't really matter because if you think about most homes are from housing tracts and that usually means they are one of several models. Most homes weren't individually built. That doesn't mean I like every house to be a taupe stucco facade either.

I can't comment on your traffic remark since I don't know.

I used to work with people from Lincoln, etc. Many were real-knuckle-draggers.
Ever spend any time on 80 or 65 during commute times? Complete nightmare.
No need to insult me just because you disagree.

Look, the OP wants a conservative area not too far from Sacramento, and so I suggested South Placer which includes Roseville and Rocklin. Makes sense, doesn't it? Why don't some of you leave your own prejudices out of this?

Placer County is desirable if you want to escape the bums, derelicts, and the general ghetto-ness around Sacramento. However, the trade off is pretty high. I could never live in such a homogenous, conservative area as Placer County. Too many narrow minded bigots and their spoiled offspring that need a good swat in the rear. Plus, the area is super hot in the summer, dry, flat, away from any waterways, and lacks any character. Simply put, it sucks.

Placer County isnt all that idyllic either. I often see car theives, cranksters and other pale bad boys doing their deeds in Roseville, etc.

Ha! I doubt you're that tolerant of opinions that you find offensive, or strongly disagree with.
