Who’s “offended”? What exactly would offend Californians? Opinions by persons unconnected to our lives?

Bizarre.

What has happened to what used to be 'Utopia'? I remember the charm and uniqueness of the city and Bay Area that earned it endearment to those who visited it from all over the globe.
Now I get sickened to see and hear of the filth and litter on the streets and the vast homelessness.
Liberalism went south on SF and it has apparently turned into a Hell-hole where anything and everything is acceptable. Like people defecating openly in public on the sidewalk and throwing feces at passerby's.
Sad but I don't know that I could stomach a visit the new SF today.
It is sad and disgusting. I grew up there also about a decade after you, I don't live there anymore, but am close by and still travel there for work. I wouldn't go back if I didn't have to and get in and out as quick as I can. It was a fun city to grow up in, but wouldn't want to do it again.

Then don’t, they haven’t missed you.
The parks have been full of junkies needles since the 1960s. Real Estate has gone through the roof. There are months when no a single home sells for under $1 million. I could live there but those days are over.

There also happens to be feces in many spots in town. It's been on the news, so why hasn't something been done about it? All the great charm of a great city is ruined by people pooping freely on city streets. The city needs to take action instead of just letting them do that.

I agree, crime overall has been increasing too while most cities in the country have been seeing declining crime. It still boggles my mind a city with all these billion dollar tech companies is run so poorly and just really dirty with in your face poverty and mental illness.

This thread really just exemplifies what happens sometimes as people age and exemplify conservative leanings (and I don't necessarily mean that in a wholly political sense) as it concerns CITIES. None of the things listed in this thread are unique to San Francisco. In general, United States cities (and thus, its citizens and the people we elect) care very little for their homeless, their mentally ill, or their drug addicted, and unfortunately, those issues don't solely affect those, but as we see, it also affects all of us. As a youth, we're drawn to these fast, exciting, bustling cities and as we grow old, we often raise our children to raise their children to live in slower paced, more predictable suburbias. How this sort of modern white-flight became thought of as a uniquely San Francisco problem amongst some of these posters is simply a reflection of where they grew up and the memories they held dear as youngsters. They're just not the same people anymore.

All that is to say, people, it's a big city and it has big city problems. You're no longer interested in city life, and that's OK. It's not for everyone for every phase of their lives. But to start slinging mud at one city... it's pretty obvious to everyone else where the problem lies primarily: it lies within yourselves. Move to the suburbs and enjoy the pace of life that you're currently experiencing. Maybe HELP us in cities like SF, Sacramento, San Jose, and Oakland to combat issues with homelessness, mental illness, and drug addiction and we might just see tremendous growth and a reduction in crime. I see very little benefit to anyone except those looking to enhance their exo-suburban real estate profits to continue slinging mud.

Of course it's NOT all of the city, but still. Bad enough to be a part of their reality. If you wish to just deny it and paint another picture you're delusional that's all there is to it.
How do you prosecute a car break in? Geez, think about it. Someone smashes your window reaches in and takes your stuff and then they beat feet. The thing is, you need a suspect in order to prosecute a crime and unless you catch someone while they are committing the crime there is little to no chance that it can ever be prosecuted.

Exactly why so many states hate when lunatic liberal Californians start invading their states
