Not sure how much snow we got in Huron total because of the wind. We have bare ground and a lot of drifts. I live on a corner so I have a LOT of sidewalk. To make it better the drive wheels on my old snowblower quit worked seconds after I started blowing the snow so I had to push it to clear the sidewalk and driveway. Still way better than shoveling.
The wind cleared my driveway yesterday. There are a lot of small drifts out back where the Yucca and Honeysuckle broke the wind up a little. It should be nice today.
Was 55 degrees in Wisconsin Dells Sunday, 34 Monday morning, and as I drove through MN it dropped to 19 degrees, with that transition zone in the middle of MN having some pretty icy roads. By western MN the snow was mostly blowing over the road and not sticking to it, which is typical for eastern SD and western MN. Luckily I got going early enough that it was snow free all the way past Albert Lea. The winds were calm enough to not move wind generators in western WI and eastern MN but moving through the frontal boundary the north winds turned it into blizzard conditions in spots.
I didn't see a single stuck vehicle the whole way, I was impressed. 2 jackknifed semis, that's it. I was almost ready to stop and stay at a hotel when 5 miles later the roads got better as it was cold enough for the snow to blow over rather than stick and freeze.
Probably around 7 inches in Brookings. Pretty typical for east river, and being in the Coteau. Brookings usually has snow depth from the first snow event right through March or April because it never gets really warm here to melt it.
The snow is gone. We have a glorius sunrise. Partly cloudy. Luv this climate.
It was gone by 10 o’clock yesterday morning. The icy roads from Fairburn to Maverick Junction were no fun. After that is was fine.
