Still pressing forward in the loan process. Waiting on a property lien to clear. However one good note is I got a further reduction in a mortgage rate to 3.5%. Possibly Monday we may know.

Finally have our place. Over whelmed the first week. But well worth sticking it out. Got a little wood cut and on the porch before chain saw acted up. Hoping to work out the kinks on that hog. Snow coming in on Saturday. Loving the slow life. The people here are so friendly and helpful. Tylor starts school Wednesday. Tim on a plane home Tuesday. And we are settling in for the winter. Life is good.

Lived here all my life and never heard of Solo, Missouri. Typed it into Google Map and went to Street View. Had to chuckle when the Street View put the car where County Road 4190 pavement ends and dirt road begins. Now that is rural Missouri!!

Welcome aboard Flyfisher and hope your move proves to be one you look back on in the years to come, as one of the smartest you ever made.

Those dirt roads are probably bike lanes and the building you see is the non-profit vegan grocery store.

Life is good. The winter was a little tough. Two weeks snowed in. But now it is warm. The Gobblers are bugling. What a great spring. Been to the Big Piney, Flea markets and to Bass Pro. Loving the Missouri way

It is beautiful this year. The serviceberries have bloomed and gone, the hawthorn is still showy, and the dogwood has just blossomed out in my area. As far as I can tell, nothing was nipped by the late frost - blackberries, cherries, raspberries all seem to be fine.

There was a turkey hen in my yard this morning, just off the porch. It may be the same one that nested about 20 yards from the house last spring. Over in the pasture about 200 yards from the house a buck and 12 does were out the other evening. And we saw a bobcat down by the creek a week ago, so there is a den somewhere nearby.

The coyote pups seem abundant this spring. There may be a connection between that and the fact that I have not seen a single rabbit on the place since fall.

I am going to have to come to an understanding with the groundhog which has denned not 30 feet from our deck. 200 acres of forest plants to choose from and it comes up on our deck to root in the flower pots.

So welcome to Missouri, where there is always something going on.
