I am currently using Pure Encapsulations and just ordered my first bottle of a Thorne product. I think they're companies are related, to include Doug laboratories and other too.
These seem to be the best of the best, top tier. What are some companies with quality products that may compare to the names above, but with less cost?
I tend to stick with either decades-old brands that are generally sold in health food stores, that follow GMP, and preferably are manufactured in U.S. or Canada.
That said, I probably prefer Natural Factors above others. The brands I'm using currently are Natural Factors, Solaray, Nature's Way, Life Extension, Source Naturals, Nature's Answer, and Country Life. But I have used many others including Thorne, NOW, Solgar, Doctor's Best, KAL, Thompson, Carlson, Healthy Origins, etc.
I seem to use a lot of Solaray and Source Naturals. I like Pure Encapsulations too but they're expensive. Most brands that have been mentioned so far are brands that I've used at one time or another--Kal, Country Life, Carlson (for their fish oil), Doctors Best, Thompson, Nature's Way, etc.
I'd glad there are so many choices in supplements so that we can get closer to exactly what we want. For instance, if I want calcium, I want it to be in an easy to absorb form and to contain vitamin D3. I don't want a lot of other junk in it, nutrients that I do not even need.

Are any of these whole food vitamins, vs. synthetic? I just read an article about synthetic vitamins and, based on that I think I know why my white blood cells are a full point higher after starting the Ultra Nutrient from Pure Encapsulations. Ultra high synthetic vitamins my body sees as toxic!
I get all my supplements from Puritans Pride. They sent me a brochure once describing all the testing and quality control they do on their products and I was quite impressed. They make almost everything they sell, right here in the US.
