When I taught in CT, we would go until Dec. 23 almost every year and be back on Jan. 2. I think things are different now. I'm glad to have the whole week off before Christmas this year.

Today is party day for the kids at my school and they are insane!

All the other districts in our area are already out and we don't get out until next Thursday. The kids are very unhappy and many have decided not to come next week despite having semester exams.

We go until the 21st. Teachers return on the 4th, kids on the 5th.

I don't see the point of the half week but meh.

I'll trade ya....I would rather have the half week as the kids don't seem to get back into school mode until the second week back. They also check out on Monday the week we go on break. this week will be very difficult. A half week on each end would cut down on the number of days they're not engaged IMO.

We get out on the 23rd and don't go back until the 9th. I'd rather get out on the 21st and go back on the 4th but they didn't ask my opinion, lol. It will be impossible to do anything with my classes on Thursday and Friday and I will have more than the usual behavior problems Monday-Wednesday. Then it will take me a week to get them back in school mode when we get back.

From last week until today, they have lost it.

2 more days, 2 more days. Friday, It looked like our principal was going to lose it with all the behaviors that they requested him for from the office.

Thursday the 22nd was supposed to be our last day and going back on the 3rd. Monday of this week, we had a student diagnosed with whooping cough. Tuesday we had 104 out of 800 students absent, and today 102, plus 2 more whooping cough diagnoses. We had a faculty meeting at 3:05 today to tell us that they decided to close tomorrow due to the high number of illnesses (~12% of the school).

It was a welcome but also a bit of a disappointment! Did not get to wish all the students a Merry Christmas, etc. Also threw a wrench into my plans - I have nothing ready for after break, because I planned to do that on my prep tomorrow! The building is open for teachers so I am going in to organize things a bit and get copies made.

The day will count as one of our 5 built-in snow days.

Headed back tomorrow. I think I'm ready. Just have to finalize some plans for the day.

A four day week, followed by five and then a three day week. I should be able to handle January.

Happy 2017!

I go back tomorrow too! First time since October...

We have a 4 day this week and week after next. There is also a week with 2 teacher workdays, but nothing off for the teachers. Then nothing until Presidents' Day.
