I think my state will pick up around 8 tornadoes at most this april.

Well, the quiet has been shattered. This is the Rochelle, IL tornado from April 9. The NWS Chicago is surveying the damage paths in Illinois today. It'll be interesting to see what this one rates. Hard to think a tornado this size could be anything less than an EF-2, probably stronger.

I'm curious to see what the rest of the season looks like, given that we got off to a slow start.

Pretty intense video from camera phone. This guy shoots a Tornado crossing over him. I thought his truck was going to get sucked right into it! That's some perspective on a powerful force right there.

That is one lucky guy. He should have been dead. On the plus side, he got great footage of a multiple vortex tornado at a distance of less than fifty yards.

The April 9th outbreak produced 6 tornadoes 45 miles west and northwest of the city of Chicago

He remained rather calm for being that close to a tornado. He got really lucky. Great footage!
