Tornados are most common in the UK between August and October, and occur on average 47 times per year.

Interesting. I read the link, and it said 90%+ of all tornadoes are rated T0 to T3 in intensity out of a scale of T0-T10. That is a very different rating system that we have here.

Corresponds to F0-F2. Most of them have low ratings because they don't hit anything other than fields. The only tornadoes in recent years that hit built up areas (Birmingham 2005 and London 2006) were both F2. The last time a tornado ran through London was in Dec 1954, that was a T7 (strong F3/F4). There were also possible F4s in 1950, 1810 and a possible F5 in 1091 (the first tornado reported in the UK).

I'm curious to see what the rest of the season looks like, given that we got off to a slow start.

I live in northeast Texas. We've had TORRENTIAL rain all year so far and so we have had lots of flooding and numerous tornado watches and warnings. Last night a tornado hit Van, Texas - about 20 miles up the road from me. Numerous injuries, people still trapped in their homes, 30 percent of structures damaged or destroyed, and several fatalities (they haven't listed the actual number of fatalities yet). As of an hour ago, ten people are still missing.

Twenty miles east, we had two trees come down, and significant flooding. Several people have had to be rescued from cars that were swept away. I got over 100 alerts on my phone last night, and the thunder, lightning, rain and small hail went on from about 8 pm till about 4 am. We got over five inches of rain as well.

More severe weather and rain is forecast for every day this next week.
