It was a rare treat to see all the water flowing through Tanque Verde creek, Pantano Wash, and the Rillito this past weekend.

When Tucson gets a wet winter, the wild flowers will be magnificent!

I think mid-March should be a good time to visit.

What do you think?

I have already seen some wildflowers, but mid-March will probably be even better. We are expecting another good rain storm that will drop 1-2" later this week. That will soak the ground and bring up more wildflowers when it warms up in March. The cactus have been soaking up the rain also. The cactus are fat from the rain this year, and the cactus flowers should be good in late Spring.

1983 was a dynamite wildflower year in SoAZ; I remember we even drove out to Organ Pipe, where the color was astounding. The 80's in general was a wet decade. A lot of people moved to Tucson in the late 80's and then were expecting it to go on like that. It doesn't of course; but the 80's were a gorgeous decade. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Rainfall doesn't really play much of a role in cacti flowering, good year or bad. But everything else, especially annuals and bulbs, will be popping off like crazy. Claritin, anyone?

Im not in Tuscon (western Az along the river) but definitely colder this year.. My UNS electric bill also shows the average temp for normal, this month and same month last year. Bill is already deep in the recycle bin and I could not "easily" find it to give the actual numbers.. but its been colder all winter.

This is also interesting..

https://climatereanalyzer.org/wx/DailySummary/#t2anom

click on "2m temperature anomaly" At least we are all sharing the freezing.. lots of the US continent has been below normal.

Click on the image to see the anomaly in the rest of the world. Almost warmer than normal everywhere else
